Community Target

Picture: The suspect arrested, carrying the knife used in the attack in Golders Green

The very area of London in which  only weeks ago, an arson incident destroyed ambulances of a Jewish charity, Golders Green, in London, now suffers two hideous stabbings of two Jewish men. Thankfully the two, one in his seventies, another in his thirties, survive, being treated in hospital for their injuries. The police, as with a few weeks ago, are treating this as antisemitic terrorism. A man, Essa Suleiman, has been arrested. In an update, it is reported that he earlier stabbed a Muslim man, a friend or colleague he lives with in a house share, having delared he intended to go and stab people “who look visibly Jewish.” This Forum and all it exists for, shall continue to research and share findings and views on what is a growing and troubling level of hate towards Jewish people. The wars that rage in the Middle East, the actions that eminate yet from Israel’s government, are nothing to do with the innocent individuals and comminities that peacefully exist and inhabit their own diaspora countries, whether in the UK or elsewhere. This message must be heard more loudly and this Forum shall continue to express it. We hope the victms of this recent outrage recover soon and the peace of our communities too. Golders Green, a warm, age old place of community, now reeling, with a sense of a community targeted and  under attack, is in our thoughts.
