Picture: Flames in the streets of Belfast, Northern Ireland
First it happened in Southampton, riots after a heinous incident. Then it was in Belfast, a rampage of hate targeted any who are of colour, on the street and even in peoples homes, ethnic minorities in terror of retribution for a violent knive attack. Stephen Ogilvie, forty four, stabbed to the point of almost a beheading, as described by reported coverage, the perpetrator, Hadi Alodid, of Sudenese origin, this fact the touchstone for the reaction of violence against others, innocent of wrongdoing, but with a different skin tone. The details shall emerge, but the scenarion has already. Northern Ireland, long an area of indiginous and majoritarian conflict at times, with almost tribal, division, has added immigrants and minorities, conflated, this time with a racial hatred.
