Today is the seventy fifth anniversary of the HMS Windrush arrival in the United Kingdom. This was the boat that brought with it the first great wave of immigrants, from the Carribean, to England. As the UK Prime Minister Harold MacMillan said a few years later, the “winds of change,” blew through the Commonwealth and the world. They blow yet. All was not always as they seemed. This was particularly true a few years ago, when I wrote an article on this very site for this very Forum. I include it here as a way to not forget what is right and what went wrong. I include two further links that add to and update, information about one subject referred to in my piece from a few years ago.
